Carboxytherapy for Dark Circles

Carboxytherapy is the practice of injecting carbon dioxide into the surface of the skin. This practice promotes circulation and reduces the appearance of sagging skin and dark circles around the eyes.

How does Carboxytherapy Work?

Carboxytherapy works on the principle that carbon dioxide promotes circulation of blood at the target site. The reason circulation is improved is because the presence of carbon dioxide tricks the body into believing that the area is starved for oxygen. Oxygen is brought to that site along with nutrients to help repair and maintain the skin.

Carboxytherapy Procedure

Injections are made to the area of skin surrounding the eye. Swelling can be expected, but subsides within 5 to 10 minutes. The effects are said to last about 6 months.

Side Effects of Carboxytherapy

  • Swelling of the upper and lower eyelids
  • Bruising at injection site, which can be reduced by applying ice
  • Cost of Carboxytherapy

The price of each carboxytherapy varies from $75 to $250.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

It is hard to say how many sessions a person would need because of the varying conditions and shape of the skin being treated. Patients with mild conditions may need as few as 2 sessions, while others will need as many as 10.
