Elderberry Leaves

An effective way to stop dandruff is by making a solution from elderberry leaves and applying it to your scalp after washing it normally.

  • Mix 1 cup of water to 2 tablespoons of elderberry leaves
  • Bring to a boil and let it sit until cool
  • After shampooing and rinsing, apply to scalp and rub it in
  • Do not rinse again, but dry hair normally
  • Cabbage Juice

Cabbage juice can also be used to treat dandruff. Fresh juice is best so you should use it right away, but you can make enough for a few applications and keep it in the refrigerator.

  • Take a few leaves of cabbage and juice them
  • After washing and rinsing, apply to the scalp and let it sit for 5 minutes
  • Rinse and dry hair as normally
  • Sage and Rosemary Leaves

Sage and Rosemary are great for getting rid of dandruff that is caused by a fungal infection. You can make a tea with sage and rosemary leaves much the same way as with elderberry leaves:

  • Add 1 tablespoon of sage, 1 tablespoon of rosemary leaves to 1 cup water
  • Strain the leaves and mix the solution with your shampoo
  • Wash hair normally
  • Thyme Tea

Thyme tea will soothe your scalp and get rid of dandruff, as well as relieving any itchiness. Preparation and application is similar to the elderberry treatment.

  • Mix 2 cup of water to 4 tablespoons of thyme
  • Bring to a boil and let it sit until cool
  • After shampooing and rinsing it, apply the solution to your scalp
  • Do not rinse again, but dry hair normally
  • Vinegar for Dandruff

Vinegar is a great natural treatment for dandruff because of its antibacterial and anti- fungal properties. It is also readily available. You can apply it to your scalp either by soaking cotton balls in it and dabbing it onto your scalp or by applying vinegar after washing your hair.

Vinegar is a good for killing the bacteria and fungus that have infected your scalp as a result of high sebum (oil) production. After getting rid of the infection, however, it is necessary to take steps to return your scalp to the proper conditions so the fungus or bacteria don’t return. Maintaining a proper diet as explained in diets that stop dandruff will help keep you dandruff free. Remaining hydrated and avoiding stress may also help prevent dandruff.
